McLoud – Funeral services for James Edward “Jim” Henson, 80, of McLoud, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, in the Sequoyah Memorial Chapel at Forever Memories Funeral Services in Sallisaw.
Burial followed at Akins Cemetery with Honors presented by the United States Air Force, under the direction of Forever Memories Funeral Services, Inc.
Mr. Henson was born on May 25, 1943, in Fern Creek, Ky. to Hosie Loftin Henson and Beatrice Metheny Smith. He died on Sunday, Oct. 8, 2023, in Newella.
He was a proud Air Force veteran, serving as a jet engine mechanic and worked at Tinker Field. He eventually started a truck driving career and retired from Yellow Freight after 30 years.
Survivors are his children, Sherri Henson, Gary Turner, Joanna Turner, and Vanessa Jantzen and husband Trenton; six grandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; his siblings, Betty Copeland and Linda McAlister; and many other family members and friends He was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Kyler Rizkharati; his parents; a brother, Herbert Henson; and his sisters, Shirley Mattingly, Norma Harl and Melba Poindexter.
Pallbearers were James E. Turner, Jared Rizkharati, Robert Baysinger, Jarrard Copeland, Greg Copeland and Roger McAlister.
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Turner, Ray Randle, Nathaniel Copeland, Kenneth R. Copeland, Trenton Jantzen, Joushua Clark and Jordon Hodde.
