As the Fourth of July approaches, Tenkiller State Park is gearing up for an unforgettable celebration, featuring a wide array of activities including games, crafts, fireworks and fun for people of all ages! The public is invited to join these celebrations and make the most of this patriotic holiday at a state park closest to them.
“We’re excited to invite Oklahomans to join us for incredible Fourth of July celebrations at our state parks this year,” said Shelley Zumwalt, executive director of the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. “This is a great opportunity for communities to come together, enjoy outdoor festivities and celebrate our nation’s independence with friends and family.”
Events at Tenkiller State Park include:
Thursday, July 4
• 11 a.m. – Fourth of July Sun Spinners
• 2 p.m. – Hummingbird Feeders
• 4 p.m. – Family Fun Hour (Water Bottle Rockets, Seed Spitting Contest, Hula Hoop Contest, Corn Hole, Chalk Obstacle Course)
• 6 p.m. – Naturalist Roving in the Park
• 8 p.m. – Watermelon Eating Contest
Friday, July 5
• 10 a.m. – Caterpillar Leaf Craft (ages five and older)
• 1 p.m. – Naturalist Rock Scavenger Hunt
• 4 p.m. – Naturalist Roving in the Park
• 6 p.m. – Naturalist in the Park
Saturday, July 6
• 10 a.m. – Birds, Birds, Birds!!!
• 1 p.m. – Oklahoma Reptiles
• 3 p.m. – Family Fun Hour (Water Bottle Rockets, Seed Spitting Contest, Corn Hole)
• 8 p.m. – Night Hike (Must register at the Nature Center by 5:00 p.m., Adults $3, 12 and under free) Sunday, July 7
