Funeral services for O.W. “Don” McCoy, 79, of Gore, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw. Burial followed at McCoy Evening Shade Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. McCoy was born on Aug. 16, 1945, in Westville to Jessie Marie (Plum) McCoy and Stand Waite McCoy. He died on Monday, Dec. 23, 2024.
He worked in construction, and was employed for several years with the Cherokee Nation Housing Authority. After retiring, he then went to work as a supervisor for Harris Construction. He had a love for roping.
He was married to Paula Marie McCoy, in Waxahachie, Texas, in December 1982.
Survivors are a daughter, Elizabeth Beesley and husband David; three sisters, Gladys Winsel, Dorothy McMahan, and Lois Hart and husband Carroll; one brother, Larry McCoy and wife, Polly; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Betty L. Brown, Alice Scoggins and Christine Miska; four brothers, Elight McCoy, Alex Mc-Coy, Norman McCoy and Ray McCoy; and two sons, Jimmy D. McCoy and Gary L. McCoy.
Pallbearers were Jerry D. McCoy, Philip McCoy, Jason McWaters, Claude Brigance, Rodney Demery and Willie McGowan.
Honorary pallbearers were Rob McCoy, JD Mc-Coy, Naaman McCoy, Ashlyn Beesley, Hannah Beesley, Bobby D. McCoy, Carroll “Rabbit” Hart, Bob Han, David Beesley, Danny Mantooth, Jody Johnson, Tanner Brigance, and nieces and nephews.
