Webbers Falls Lady Warriors lose twice to Leflore, once to Gore
By David Seeley Sports Editor

It was a rough week on the diamond last week for the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors as they suffered a pair of home losses to the Leflore Lady Savages by scores of 14-1 in three innings and 10-5 on March 31 at Eual Carter Sports Complex before being shutout 6-0 by the Arkansas River rival Gore Lady Pirates on April 1 in Gore.

In the Game 1 loss to Leflore, the Lady Savages took control of the game early with a six-run first inning and a four-run second inning for a 10-0 lead. After the Lady Warriors (4-9) scored their lone run in the second inning to cut the deficit to 10-1, the Lady Savages scored four runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Bentley Ward was 2-for-2 for Webbers Falls. Lextyn Chappell (2-4) took the loss.

In the Game 2 loss to Leflore, the Lady Savages, who trailed 4-1 after three innings, scored three runs in the fourth inning and six runs in the fifth inning to take a 10-4 lead in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Chappell was 3-for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Bentley Ward was 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored, Karla Bonilla was 2-for-2 with a double and Kendra Kimble was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Chappell took the loss, despite recording two strikeouts.

In the loss to Gore, Gore pitcher Mylee Bruce tossed a seven-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Lady Pirates scored three runs in the first inning and single runs in the second, fourth and fifth innings.

In defeat, Gracie Sturgell and Bailey Ward were each 2-for-3, with one of Stargell’s hits a double, for the Lady Warriors. Lextyn Chappell took the loss.
