Rough start to softball season for Central Lady Tigers
By David Seeley Sports Editor

It was a rough beginning to the 2025 fastpitch softball season for the Central Lady Tigers, who went 1-5 to start the season.

The lone win came in the final game of the Muldrow Festival as the Lady Tigers defeated the Stigler Lady Panthers 7-4 on Saturday afternoon.

That win snapped a five-game losing streak to get the season started.

Central began the 2025 season with a 9-2 loss at home to Warner on Aug. 11, followed by an 11-1 setback on Aug. 12 at Keota.

In the Muldrow Festival, the Lady Tigers lost 18-1 to Eufaula and 6-4 to Panama on Friday and fell 1-0 to the host Lady Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon.

In the win over Stigler, the Lady Tigers broke a 1-all tie with a two-run second inning for a 3-1 lead. After the Lady Panthers cut their deficit to 3-2 after two innings, a four-run third inning put away the game for Central.

For the contest, Charlie Petree was 2-for-3 with a run batted in for Central. Addison Howard (1-0) got the win.

In the loss to Warner, after the Lady Tigers cut their deficit to 2-1 after an inning, the Lady Eagles scored twice in the second inning, once in the third inning and four runs in the fifth inning for a 9-1 lead.

In defeat, CPetree doubled, Alyvia Warner singled and scored once and Keeley Poindexter singled for Central.

Brenleigh Allen (0-5) suffered the loss, despite recording three strikeouts in five innings.

In the loss to Keota, the Lady Lions broke a 1-all tie with two runs in the second inning, a single run in the third inning and a seven-run fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Sadie Huff singled with a run batted in for the lone run for the Lady Tigers, while Petree singled for the only hits in the game for Central.

Allen suffered the loss, despite fanning four batters in four innings.

In the loss to Eufaula, Eufaula pitcher Leah Green pitched a seven-hitter with four strikeouts. A 13-run first inning for the Lady Ironheads put away the game.

In defeat, Huff was 2-for-2, while Warner, Petree, Allen, Howard and Brianna Taylor all singled for Central.

Allen took the loss as she was knocked out of the game with one out in the opening inning. Howard went the final 2.2 innings.

In the loss to Panama, the Lady Razorbacks rallied from a 4-2 deficit with a four-run fifth inning for the come-frombehind win.

In defeat, Allen was 3-for-3 with a run scored, Poindexter was 2-for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored and Howard was 2-for-3 with a three-run, insidethe-park home run. Allen took the loss, despite getting four strikeouts.

In the loss to Muldrow, Aliyah Duran’s RBI when she was hit by a pitch with an out and the bases loaded in the fifth inning walked it off for Muldrow.

In defeat, Warner was 2-for-3 with a triple, while Howard doubled for Central. Allen was the hard-luck loser.
