Candidates file for Board of Education
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor

Several candidates filed for a Declaration of Candidacy at the Sequoyah County Election Board last week for the upcoming Sequoyah County Board of Education/City of Sallisaw races, which are scheduled for February.

If more than two candidates filed for the same Board of Education seat, a Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 10. If one candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, that candidate will be named the elected official.

If no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will vie for the seat during the Board of Education General Election on Tuesday, April 7.
