God – The Judge of Nations
commentary, Devotional

God – The Judge of Nations
By Shirley R. Watts,

From God’s Word

“God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious. The Lord will take vengeance on His adversaries, And He reserves wrath for His enemies; The Lord is slow to anger and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked” (Nahum 1:2-3). “Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him” (Nahum 1:6)

Our Nation

God the Creator, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ Who lives and is on His Throne is the Judge of all Nations. Yes, this includes our Nation! How does He see our Nation today? How do you see it? Is it a Godly Nation? Is there sin? How are parents treating their children? Is there greed everywhere? There is so much happening today that will eventually bring His judgment upon this land. He has blessed our Nation and He will not stand by and see it ignore His Word.

“God is jealous, and the Lord avenges; The Lord avenges and is furious.” When man ignores God, He will judge him. As a Christian are you okay with our Nation? Do you hate sin? Are you concerned about our Nation and how it will affect future generations?

Judgment

Nineveh found out that God did not tolerate sin! A Nation that does not honor God will be judged… and we may see it sooner than we think. A church that does not honor God will also be judged. Many doors remain open today, but God is not the center of worship. The Christian who does not honor God in his or her life will come under discipline for we represent Jesus Christ in this world and God will not permit us to continue in sin and disgrace His Word and The Cross of Christ. So Christian how is your life? Are you disobedient? We are not reaching the lost world! Let us repent and be about His business. It’s a great day to be a witness for Him. Let’s be brave, stand on His Word. He will be coming soon. Let us be found faithful!

Why did Nineveh come under Gods judgment? Sin! Cruelty, pride, idolatry, sexual immorality. They willfully broke God’s Law. Remember Jonah and how God called him to go to Nineveh and preach and he ran the other way, but God knew where he was and Jonah woke up in the belly of a big fish… praying. Are you trying to hide from God? We are all called to go to a “Nineveh” And we must go. We can’t delay!

Nineveh, one hundred years before had repented, God spared their city, but now it will be no more, for they ignored God. They lied to other Nations, slaughtered people of all ages and worshiped a sexual god. They were spiritually blind. Our Nation is worshiping sex today. It is guilty of murdering our innocent people. We will come under judgment. Christian we must pray and stand strong.

We have Nahum’s message and the judgment of a city that ignored God’s Word. Nineveh was and now is no more.

Revival Time

There are still millions of unbelievers in this world and this includes our Nation! You hear them speak, watch them live and how they are anti-Christ, anti-Church and full of hate for Christians. The movement against God’s people is on the rise and will only get worse before the Rapture. We have to remain faithful, love Him and believe that God is still in control of all things and definitely in charge of our Nation.

We need a revival in the study of His Word, surrendered to Him in evangelism! If the Christian does not repent…judgment is at the door, for we are here to take the Gospel to the world. This includes our Nation, community, churches, neighbors and our family.

Let us be more concerned for a for people dying without Christ, than for other things going on. but be more concerned about the sin and God’s judgment on disobedience!
