Central Tigers go 1-2 in Roland Wood Bat Tournament after losing to Vian

The Central Tigers went 1-2 in last week’s Roland Wood Bat Tournament, which took place last Thursday through Saturday.

Last Friday, the Tigers suffered a 3-0 lead to Muldrow and an 8-2 loss to the Sallisaw junior varsity before ending the weekend with a 13-2 four-inning victory over the host Roland Rangers.

The week got started with a 13-3 five-inning, run-rule home loss to Vian.

In the tournament loss to Muldrow, Muldrow pitcher Wyatt Prewett threw a five-inning four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

The Bulldogs scored once in the first inning and twice in the fourth inning.

In defeat, Waylon Campbell was 2-for-2 with a triple for the Tigers (2-5).

Kaw-Liga Lewis (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season, despite getting two strikeouts in five innings.

In the loss to tournament loss to the Sallisaw JV, the Black Diamonds scored five runs in the second inning, once in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning for an 8-0 lead. The Tigers scored twice in the fourth inning but got no closer.

In defeat, Lewis and Paitton Merrill each doubled and scored once for Central.

Ryker Miller (0-3) took the loss, although he fanned five batters in three innings. Campbell pitched an inning.

In the tournament win over Roland, the Tigers jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first inning, which became a 10-0 advantage in the second inning. A threerun third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Merrill had the game’s only hit, which was a single to go with his two runs scored and a run batted in.

Tite Cox (2-0) got the win in relief, going the final three innings with four strikeouts. Kiefer Bailey got the start and went an inning with a strikeout.

In the loss to Vian, the Wolverines jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, which became an 8-2 lead by the second inning. A run in the third inning and a pair of two-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Lewis, Merrill, Kage Poindexter and Aiden Cawhorn each singled for the Tigers.

Miller took the loss, despite fanning five bat-ters in three innings. Cox pitched the final two innings with a strikeout.
