Vian Lady Wolverines go 2-2 in WF Festival after losing first three games last week

The Vian Lady Wolverines went 2-2 in last week’s Webbers Falls Festival, which took place last Thursday and Friday at Eual Carter Sports Complex, after opening last week with losses to Muldrow, Stilwell and Warner.

The Lady Wolverines split their games last Thursday in the festival as they loss 8-0 to Keota but beat Talihna 8-5. On Friday, it was another festival split as they blanked Central 11-0 but lost 11-0 to Keota.

The week started by losing 5-4 at Muldrow on March 23 before returning to Armstrong Park on March 24 and falling 18-16 to Stilwell in eight inning and losing 13-5 to Warner in six innings.

In the first festival loss to Keota, Keota pitcher Danielle Drummonds pitched a fiveinning, five-hit shutout.

In defeat, Aubree Craighead doubled, while Tressa Sandlin, Eden Girty, Halli Russell and Rayleigh Terrill each singled for the five hits for the Lady Wolverines (3-7). Terrill (37) took the loss.

In the festival win over Talihina, the Lady Wolverines broke a 4-all tie with a four-run fourth inning.

For the game, Russell was 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, Scarlett Fields was 3-for-4 with an RBI, Craighead was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, Jordyn Cowett was 3-for-4 with a run scored, Girty was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, LaKoeta Cheater was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a run scored and Leila Cheater was 2-for-4 for Vian. Terrill got the win.

In the festival victory over Central, Terrill tossed a five-hitter.

The Lady Wolverines scored four runs in the first inning, twice in the second inning, three runs in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Girty was 3-for-4 with three doubles and three runs scored, Sandlin was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored, Russell was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Terrill was 2-for-4, LaKoeta Cheater was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Cowett was 2-for-2 2ith a double, a triple and two runs scored for Vian.

In the second festival loss to Keota, Drummonds tossed a two-hitter, with those two hits being a single apiece by Russell and LaKoeta Cheater. Terrill suffered the loss.

In the loss to Muldrow, the Lady Bulldogs scored twice in the seventh inning to get the walk-off, season-opening win.

In defeat, Girty was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Raylan McEver was 2-for-3, Aliyah Tucker was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Leila Cheater was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Lady Wolverines. Terrill took the loss.

In the loss to Stilwell, the Lady Indians tied the game at 16-all with a six-run sixth inning, then capped the comeback with a two-run eighth inning for the win.

In defeat, Fields was 5-for-5 with two runs scored, Sandlin was 4-for-6 with two runs batted in and two runs scored, Terrill was 4-for-4 with her first two home runs of the season and six RBIs, Leila Cheater was 4-for-5 with a run scored, Craighead was 3-for-5 with two runs scored, Girty was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, LaKoeta Cheater was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, Cowett was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Tucker was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored for Vian. Terrill suffered the loss.

In the loss to Warner, after the Lady Wolverines cut their deficit to 7-5 with a two-run fourth inning, the Lady Eagles put the game into run-rule status with a six-run sixth inning.

In defeat, Craighead was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, McEver was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Sandlin doubled with a run scored and Terrill hit her third homer for Vian. Terrill took the loss.
