Gore Pirates beat Central, fall to Regent Prep, Tushka, Meeker
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Gore Pirates got a 6-0 win over the Cen-tral Tigers on Good Friday afternoon at Central High School. However, that was the only win for last week.

The Pirates lost 8-7 to Tulsa Regent Prep on March 31 in Tulsa, fell 10-0 in four innings last Thursday at Tushka and lost 10-4 to Meeker on Good Friday afternoon at home after beating Central.

In the win over Central, Gore’s duo of Jesse Reeves and Gage Dame combined to one-hit the Tigers. Reeves (1-1) got his first win of the season as he went the first 4.1 innings with six strikeouts. Dame got his first save of the season, going the final 2.2 innings with two strikeouts.

The Pirates (10-6) had a pair of three-run outbursts in the third and seventh innings.

For the game, Eli Munson was 3-for-4 with a run batted in and a run scored, Cruz Ward was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Keeton Rowe was 2-for-4, Kason Short was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Kyler McGee was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored for Gore.

In the loss to Regent Prep, the Rams scored six runs in the seventh inning to get the walkoff, come-from-behind victory after the Pirates scored five runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-all tie.

In defeat, Munson was 2-for-5 with two runs batted in and a run scored, while James Brasuell was 2-for-3 with a triple for Gore.

Dame (2-1) suffered his first loss as he came in relief in the seventh inning and allowed the game-tying and gamewinning runs to score. Brausell got the start and went the first 5.1 innings with five strikeouts. Reeves got the next three outs, two of which came on strikeouts.

In the loss to Tushka, the Pirates were shut out on four hits.

The Tigers, who led 1-0 after an inning, put the game into run-rule status with three-run innings in the second, third and fourth innings.

In defeat, Dame, Brasuell, McGee and Short each singled for Gore.

Reeves took the loss, going the first 1.2 innings. Kaiden Denton went the next 1.1 innings, then Dame got the final two outs.

In the loss to Meeker, the Bulldogs broke a 2-all tie with a sevenrun third inning to take a 9-2 lead. The Pirates cut their deficit to 9-4 with two runs in the fourth inning but got no closer.

In defeat, Rowe was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Short was 2-for-3 and Brasuell doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Gore.

Dane Gates (0-1) suffered the loss, going the first 2.1 innings. Denton went the final 2.2 innings with a strikeout.

Editor’s Note: The Gore Lady Pirates had their games last week against Hartshorne, Gans and Porum canceled.
