Gore track duo win titles at Checotah Crossroads Classic

CHECOTAH — Two Gore Pirates track athletes won titles at the Checotah Crossroads Classic, which took place last Thursday at Ogle Field.

Devon Mannon got past teammate Trenton Cunningham to win the 110-meter hurdles as Mannon won gold with a time of 17.18 seconds, one-tenth of a second faster than Cunningham (17.28).

Mannon also won the 300-meter hurdles (41.31 seconds), while Zac Comer took first place in the discus (1358).

As for other Pirates, Weston Cunningham was third (43.81 seconds) and Trenton Cunningham was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (44.41), Weston Cunningham was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles (19.8), Mannon was ninth (12.08), Cole Brooksher was 22nd (12.62) and Treydan Daugherty was 46th (13.74) in the 100-meter dash, Mannon was ninth (23.93), Brooksher was 23rd (24.94) and Trenton Cunningham was 42nd (26.53) in the 200-meter dash, Marcus Scott was 12th in the discus (100-0) and Clayton White was 38th (1:03.85) and Jaxton McGowin was 42nd (1:05.64) in the 400-meter dash The Pirates’ 3,200-meter relay team of Luke Wisdom, Benson Hunt, McGowin and White was ninth (10:30.21).

As a team, the Pirates were fifth with 48 points.

Alevia Reasnor has the best finish for the Lady Pirates as she was fifth in the discus (839) to score Gore’s two points. She did not get to throw the shot put due to the event being canceled due to threatening weather conditions.

As for other Lady Pirates, Mylee Bruce was 13th in the 100-meter hurdles (21.76 seconds) and 14th in the 300-meter hurdles (59.35), Gracie Bruce was 31st in the 400-meter dash (1:18.51), Gracie Bruce was 33rd (15.74), Kylie “K.J.” McEver was 39th (16.53) and Jemma Peevy was 49th (17.33) in the 100-meter dash and Gracie Bruce was 54th (33.81) and Maddison Douglass was 58th (34.98) in the 200-meter dash.

The Gore teams were scheduled to return to action at Tuesday’s Warner Invitational before going to the Hilldale Invitational, which will begin at 10 a.m. this Friday in Muskogee.
