Webbers Falls pitcher records 15 Ks in home win over UCA

Last week’s slate of baseball games for the Webbers Falls Warriors could not have started any better than the way it did in their home game against Union Christian Academy on March 30 at Eual Carter Sports Complex.

Webbers Falls pitcher Brutus Robinson struck out 15 batters as the Warriors defeated UCA 9-2.

The Warriors got win No. 2 for last weeks with a 15-1 five-inning road victory at Braggs on March 31 before suffering a 7-0 loss to Okay last Thursday at home.

In the win over UCA, the Warriors (9-6), who scored twice in the first inning and once in the second inning, put away the game with a six-run sixth inning.

For the contest, Austin Barger was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and a run batted in, while Robinson, who improved to 4-0 with the pitching victory, doubled with three RBIs and scored twice for Webbers Falls.

In the victory over Braggs, after the Wildcats cut their deficit to 2-1 after an inning, the Warriors scored four runs in the third inning, once in the fourth inning and eight runs in the fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Hayden Stephens was 2-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in, T.J. Morgan doubled with two RBIs and a run scored, Trysten Wilbourn doubled with three runs scored and an RBI and Thadan Yandell doubled doubled with two runs scored and an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Gunner Shelby (4-0) got the complete five-inning game victory as he threw a two-hitter with eight strikeouts.

In the loss to Okay, Okay pitcher Chase Clark threw a four-hitter with 14 strikeouts.

The Mustangs scored single runs in each of the first two innings, then put away the game with a three-run sixth inning and a two-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Robinson was 2-for-3, while Shelby and Yandell each singled for Webbers Falls’ four hits.

Wilbourn (0-3) suffered theooss, going the first 5.1 innings with two strikeouts. Carson Bukowski got the next three outs, one of which came by strikeout. Cason Newcomer got the final two outs.
