Edmund Eull ‘Ed’ Stites

April 11, 1938 – March 28, 2019

Sallisaw – Services for Edmund Ell “Ed” Stites, 80, of Sallisaw were held Thurs., April 4, 2019 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home.

Mr. Stites was born April 11, 1938 in Sallisaw to John Thomas Stites and Lessie Curl Stites and passed this life Thurs., March 28, 2019 in Sallisaw. He married Julia Gwendolyn Riggs Stites on Aug. 13, 1959 in Sallisaw. He was a long time, self-employed businessman.

Survivors include his wife, Gwen of the home; one daughter, Malora Stites of Sallisaw; three sons, Eddie Stites, Greg Stites and Larry Stites, all of Salli-saw; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Don Stites and wife Jimmie Lou of Salli-saw; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Melvin Godfrey; his parents; five brothers, Ted, J.T., Charles, Herbert and Doug; and three sisters, Margaret Davidson, Ima Jean Copeland and Verna Lee Lindsey.

Pallbearers were his nephews.

Honorary pallbearers were E.C. Riggs, Seaynoah Mayfield, Boyd Walton, Rex Whatley, Leroy Hensley, Jim Lessley, Archie Risenhoover, Larry Osborne, Earl Ed Strebeck, Sandy Davis, Larry Smith and Mike Neer.
