Marla Ruth Wasson
Vian – Marla Ruth Wasson was born on March 3, 1942, in Vian, to O.S. “Short” and Della Ellen Lee. She passed away on Friday, April 24, 2020, in Vian, surrounded by her husband and daughter.
She married F.B. “Frank” Wasson on June 29, 1959, and they had three children, Vance Lee, Lavoy Dale and Ginger Ruenell. They would have celebrated 61 years of marriage this June.
Ruth was a member of Blackgum Baptist Church and spent many years singing in the choir and helping in the church kitchen. She was known for her baking, especially her cream puffs. She enjoyed selling Avon and prided herself on always looking her best. She loved spoiling her granddaughter and later her greatgrandchildren. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Frank; her daughter, Ginger and Ray Murphy of Vian; her granddaughter, Jessica and Michael Randolph of Vian; great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Liam Randolph; her brother, Rex and Sherry Lee; brother-in-law, Norman Spencer of Vian; sisters-in-law, Bonnie McColl of Lakewood, Ruenell Vaughn of Oklahoma City, Virginia and Marvin Lamirand of Norman and Jackie and Bill Morgan of Noble; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Vance Lee and Lavoy Dale; her sister, Ruby Spencer; brothers, Carl Lee and Jerry Lee; her sisters-in-law, Shirley Lee, Mayme Thompson, Marie Rosen and Connie Dan; and brothers-in-law, Willie Thompson, Atwood Rosen, Charles Dan, Dick McColl, Dean Mitchusson, James Lavoy Vaughn and Jimmy Clary.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at a later date.
