Child number seven of a family of eighteen,
His one hundred and two years of living was more like a dream.
Why this beloved man lived so long only God knows why,
He alone, decides the age we will live and when we die.
Benson’s parents taught him to love Christ long ago.
Throughout his life faith in God continued to grow. These last few years he studied the Holy Bible at home,
Although old and weak, his faith and spirit stayed strong.
His siblings, too, were believers of God’s word,
At every reunion praising Christ was heard.
What a joy it has been seeing these women and men, Sharing our Lord’s spirit with family and friends.
Like an old oak tree whose branches die away,
Only a sister and brother remain living today.
Mary and Raymon (Red) have both served Christ well,
Their strong faith will carry them to Heaven, not Hell.
Tears of sadness for Benson Davis should be few, His soul is now with family that loved Christ, too. Enjoy your life on Earth but praise God every day, Only those reborn in spirit will enter Heaven’s doorway.
