The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association canceled the Class 2A-6A state basketball tournaments and spring high school sports activities Thursday because of the growing COVID-19 public health threat in Oklahoma and the United States.
Gore High School powerlifters (from left) Damien Page (157-pound division), James Dover (181) and Alex Hallum (145) recently qualified for the state powerlifting meet after each lifter placed third in the small-school regional at Broken Bow. As a team the Pirates finished second in the smallschool regional. The state powerlifting meet, scheduled for April 9-10 at El Reno High School, was cancelled on Thursday.
Kacy Cook of Muskogee plans to go fishing as often as he can at Lake Eufaula and Fort Gibson Lake in the coming days. He thinks it’s a safe way to get out of the house but still practice social distancing.
