I have always been a “the glass is half full, not half empty” kind of person. That’s how I see the world most of the time. But on the other hand, I struggle with fear and anxiety. I face all kinds of challenges, as we all do, and I often wonder, “What next?” My favorite verse is Timothy 1:7 which tells us, “God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Recently, I was ex plaining to one of my grandchildren how “sound mind” could be interpreted as a biblical world view or seeing the world the way God sees it. I think Elisabeth Elliot, wife of martyred missionary Jim Elliot, nailed it when she wrote, “Let’s be clear about one thing. God does not cause all things we don’t like. But He does permit them to happen because it is in this fallen world we humans must learn to walk by faith. But He doesn’t leave us to ourselves, however, He shares every step.”
