The Wolverine Car Wash added concrete “blocks” to their parking lot last week, discouraging truckers and semi drivers from making U-turns in their business parking lot, which is also shown on their sign. Several Vian business owners said when the semi trucks turn around in their parking lots, they are damaging or destroying them. According to some of the drivers, there is no place to turn around after finding out the Love’s store in Vian is a car stop instead of a truck stop. While there are signs on U.S. Interstate-40 and at the end of the on-ramp heading into Vian town limits, most truck drivers said they either didn’t seen the signs or were not aware semi trucks and trailers were not allowed, resulting in fines for illegal U-turn and malicious injury to property or property damage. One Vian resident said they feel the town should supply a place for the trucks to either turn around or park so they will spend their money at Vian businesses while another said they should just stay on interstate and keep on truckin.’ Citations issued by the Vian Police Department for illegal U-turns and defacing public property can be seen on page 8 of this issue.
