Two pinned, freed by firefighters
By AMIE CATO-REMER Editor,

In collision near Webbers Falls

Two women had to be freed by local firefighters following a collision last Tuesday morning, four miles west of Webbers Falls.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Perry #618 of the Muskogee Turnpike detachment of Troop XB reported the accident happened on OK-351 westbound at mile marker 52.

Perry said Aliah Mapes, 24, of Cameron was traveling westbound in a 2021 Toyota when she departed the roadway to the right, overturning.

Both Mapes and her passenger, Cheyanne Lyon, 18, of Cameron were pinned in the vehicle for around 10 minutes before being freed by firefighters with the Buckhorn Fire Department.

Both Mapes and Lyon were transported by Muskogee County EMS to Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa where they were both admitted in fair condition with head and leg injuries.

The trooper listed the cause of the collision as unsafe speed, according to the accident report.

Perry was also assisted by Lt. Derek Burton #139 of Troop XB and Trooper Joa’n Alvarez #210 of the Sequoyah County detachment of Troop C.
