Whatever You Ask in My Name
Devotional
June 5, 2023
Whatever You Ask in My Name
By Shirley R. Watts,

“Ask, and it will be given to you” (Matt. 7:7).

“And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13). What are the needs in your life today? Do you know where to get help? Are you asking God? Can you pray to Him and receive whatever you ask for? Are you trusting God?

Today we are attacked on every side with divorces, sexual immorality, pregnant teenagers, adultery, peer-pressure, drugs, alcohol, viruses, medical, and National concerns. Maybe you have lost your job, bills are stacking up. You may lose your home or transportation. The last three years have taken its toll on family and social life, and especially church life and our children.

Wow! We could go on and on. Christian when you think about all these areas do you feel alone, and just don’t know if you can get through them? Well, you can! Praise God!

Ask in My Name

“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Phil 4:19) Jesus said: “Ask!” “Your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him” (Matthew 6:8). Christian, are you praying about these things? Do you feel as though you are not heard because you don’t see the needs met that you are asking for? Do you know how to receive the things you need? There are many Christians that are not aware that God wants to bless them. “Ask, and it will be given to you” (Matt.7:7). “And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).

“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matt. 21:22).

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7). It is when we pray, praise and study that we are abiding in Him.

“At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” This is our God today. He is the same! He has not changed!

In these few verses we have the answer to all our needs. God has made it clear that He wants to bless us and has told us how to receive the things we need in this life and how to live with joy when the pressures and trials come.

Believe

What does it mean to believe? It means to have faith in God’s Word. You must pick up the Book before you know what His Word says. His Word reveals His will to us. It points out that if “I regard iniquity in my heart” (Ps. 66:18)) that He will not hear our prayer.

So, we confess our sin and ask Him in faith, trusting Him to meet our needs. We study His will and the Holy Spirit will help us pray His will, and then we will have our needs met.

We ask in faith, study His Word and He says, “whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son” (John 14:13).

As we pray we will receive the things we ask for “because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight” (I John 3:22). When we meet the requirements for prayer God will meet our needs and therefore He will be glorified.

Unbeliever

Repent and call upon the Lord for your salvation. You have many needs, but God will not help you until you recognize His Son’s death on the cross for you. You have no way of help unless you call upon Him. Don’t let Satan fool you any longer, He is a liar! He is constantly lying to you and up to this point you have believed him. Cry out to God today, repent of sin, ask for forgiveness and place your faith in Him.

“You do not have because you do not ask” (James 4:22).

Christian, if you have a need, ask God! He cares? Trust Him!

Pray for our Nation!
