Officials with the Vian Community Foundation (VCF) have announced that nominations are now being sought for Vians Favorite Sons and Daughters.

The Foundation is encouraging others to honor a worthy Vian citizen or former citizen, who has personal distinction and service to the community, by writing a letter outlining compelling reasons the nominated person should be selected as a Favorite Son or Daughter.

An independent committee will make their decision based on the compelling nature of the letter.

The nomination letter should explain:

• Why the person holds the esteem and affection of his or her family and friends.

• How this person stands for the things we like and believe in as a community.

• How this person gives, but not necessarily of money, although this may be part of their character.

• How the lives of others are better because this person has been a part of their lives.

• How he or she has made a difference for the better.

Nomination letters can be mailed to VCF, P.O. Box 505, Vian, OK 74962, or dropped off at Morning Sky Boutique in Vian.

Awards will be presented at 8 p.m. during the annual Vian Fireworks Extravaganza on July 1.
