Evelyn E. Sauser Fugitt

Nov. 13, 1923 – Aug. 14, 2023

Sallisaw – Funeral services for Evelyn E. (Sauser) Fugitt, 99, of Sallisaw, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023, at Church of Christ in Sallisaw. Burial followed at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mrs. Fugitt was born on Nov. 13, 1923, in Thayer, Mo., to Pearl Elizabeth (Dunsmore) Sauser and Ernest A. Sauser. She died on Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, in Sallisaw.

She was married to George R. Fugitt on Dec. 22, 1946, in Thayer. He preceded her in death on Nov. 23, 2004.

She was well-known for her sewing and quilting skills, and her cooking ability was renowned by her children and grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of Church of Christ in Sallisaw.

Survivors are her children, Gail Isabel (Fugitt) Fine of Sallisaw and Robert William Fugitt and Rosalie of Roswell, N.M.; five grandchildren; 11 greatgrandchildren; siblings, Walter Sauser of Jonesboro, Ark. and Pearl Elizabeth (Sauser) Minton of Bono, Ark.; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Grace Anthem (Sauser) Mainprize; and her son-in-law, Michael Fine.

Honorary pallbearers were Brent Fine, Derek Fine, Tye Smith, Sheldon Smith, Spencer Londagin, Nicholas Fugitt, Parker Fine and Taden Fine.
