Vian – Funeral services for Judy Kay Whitmire, 68 of Vian, were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at 12 Step Fellowship in Vian under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mrs. Whitmire was born on Nov. 27, 1954, in Fort Chaffee, Ark., to Minnie Pairlee (Triplett) Glenn and Wilburn Eugene Rowell. She died on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2023, in Fort Smith, Ark.

She was a caregiver. Survivors are two daughters, Jody Benge and Kodie of Vian and Shonna Allen and Travis of Sallisaw; great-grandson whom she raised, Dawson Silva Hutson of the home; mother, Minnie Glenn of Vian; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, Carl Waldron of Houston, Texas, Kenneth Rowell of McAlester, and Billy Rowell, Arland Rowell and Bobby Rowell, all of Vian; one step-sister, Leona Hensley of Coalgate; four step-brothers, Wes Fortenberry of Oklahoma City, Jess Fortenberry of Yukon, Wendell Fortenberry of Magnum, and Brian Fortenberry of Checotah; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; grandson, David Kyle Hutson; brother, David Rowell; step-father, Kenneth Fortenberry; and step-brother, Floyd Fortenberry.
