Philip Wayne Foster

Oct. 23, 1950 – Aug. 30, 2023

Vian – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phillip Wayne Foster, a beloved retired Oklahoma City firefighter. He lost his courageous battle with cancer on Aug. 30, 2023, at the age of 72. He had found peace and happiness in his retirement in Vian, Okla.

A memorial service to celebrate Fat Fireman Foster’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at Cookson United Methodist Church, 21685 Cookson Bend Road, Cookson, OK. In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in memory to Cookson United Methodist Church or a cancer research organization of your choice. He would have wished to help others in their fight against this disease.

Phil leaves behind his loving wife, Connie Foster, with whom he shared countless adventures and unwavering love. He was devoted father to his daughter, Rene Capron, and his son, Travis Foster.

He was a loving grandfather to Bryce Capron, Devon Capron, Aiden Foster, and Brinley Foster. Bapa took great pride in watching his grandchildren grow and thrive, always offering guidance and support. His brother, Glenn Foster Jr., was a sibling and a close friend with whom he shared a lifetime of memories and laughter. He also left many dear and devoted friends.

Phil was born in Okmulgee on Oct. 23, 1950, to the late Glenn Foster Sr. and Ruth Foster, who passed away early in his life. He was fortunate that Wilma Foster entered his life and raised him and his brother as her own sons. He spent his early years in Oklahoma City, where he developed a strong sense of duty and services, which eventually led him to become a dedicated firefighter. Phil retired to Lake Tenkiller after many years of selfless service to his community. At the lake, he could indulge in his passion and enjoy life’s simpler pleasures. Phil had an immense love for the outdoors, and his favorite pastimes included fishing, challenging friends to a round of golf, and testing his skill at poker tables. His enthusiasm for these activities was infectious, and he created cherished memories with his friends and family through these shared experiences. Bapa’s greatest joy in life, however, was his family.

Phil Foster will be remembered for his kind heart, unwavering commitment to helping others, and ability to find joy in like’s simple pleasures. His legacy lives on through the love and memories he created with those who had the privilege of knowing him. Phil Foster’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will forever shine in our cherished memories. May he rest in eternal peace.
