Cherokee Nation accepting 2023 Angel Project applications

The Cherokee Nation Angel Project is now accepting applications online through the Gadugi Portal until Nov. 10.

Eligible citizens must be registered on the tribes online Gadugi Portal, which can be accessed at https://gadugiportal. cherokee.org/. Select “Applications” from the top blue navigation bar, select “Angel Project” from the list of available programs, and after selecting the application, income guidelines will be provided.

“We know the Cherokee Nation Angel Project has helped many tribal families in a time of need, but it ultimately takes our communities coming together to ensure that our families have a memorable Christmas,” said Principal Chief Chuck Hoskin Jr. “This is such an amazing program each year. Last year, nearly 2,500 children were provided with gifts during the holiday season through this etfort.”

The Cherokee Nation Angel Project assists Cherokee children, under the age of 16, who fall within low-income guidelines and reside within the Cherokee Nation Reservation.

Cherokee citizens who apply for the Angel Project must provide:

• Proof of income

• Proof of residency

• A photo identification

• Tribal citizenship cards for all children above the age of 2 years

• Childrens clothing sizes

• Childrens gift ideas

When applying, applicants will also be able to choose a gift pick-up location from a drop-down menu. For assistance or questions about the application, call 918-4535058 during normal business hours.

“Whether it’s through a gift donation, money given or in volunteering your time, the Cherokee Nation Angel Project is a donation-generated program,” said Sally Wilson, Angel Project coordinator. “The thoughtful giving provided in every angel adoption enables Cherokee children to experience the spirit of gadugi during the Christmas holiday season.”

The Cherokee Nation will be hosting an Angel Project kick-off event at the WW Keeler Tribal Complex in November.

This year, the angel “adoptions” will also be completed entirely online. The public can contribute to the Angel Project mission by visiting https://webapps.cherokee.

org/OnlineGiving/ Donations/create and clicking “Angel Project” under the “Recipient” drop down menu.
