Bill M. Stricklin

June 3, 1939 – Nov. 13, 2023

Funeral services for Bill M. Stricklin, 84, were held at 1 p.m. Thursday Nov. 16, 2023, at First Baptist Church in Webbers Falls with Rev. Tim Harper officiating. Interment followed at Prague Cemetery under the direction of Lescher-Millsap Funeral Home.

Mr. Stricklin was born June 3, 1939, in Prague, to John and Marie (Harwell) Stricklin. He died on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023.

He graduated from OSU in Agriculture Education in 1961 and started his teaching career in Webbers Falls in the fall of 1961, serving 36 years as the Ag teacher. After retiring from teaching, he was a full-time rancher. He was a Mason and Gideon, and served on the Webbers Falls School Board, after retirement, until his death.

He was a member of First Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and church treasure; served on the Muskogee County Livestock Board and was the Scholarship Chairman for Muskogee County; was instrumental in starting the local volunteer fire department; and helped organize the Webbers Falls Chamber of Commerce years ago.

He married Sharey Lynn Smiley, his first wife, in 1982. She preceded him in death on Nov. 13, 1987.

He married Dorothy Dowell, his second wife, on Aug. 3, 1991.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy Stricklin; brother, Jerry and wife Lee Stricklin of Paden; sister, Kay and husband Johnny Wallis of Paden; brother, Wayne Stricklin and wife Kristi of Paden; and many other family members and friends.

He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Kurtis Stricklin, his parents; and a sister and brotherin-law, Joan and Billy E. Coleman. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate bibles through Gideons International, Muskogee Gideon Camp, PO Box 204, Muskogee, OK 74402 or to the Bill Stricklin Memorial Scholarship of Webbers Falls, PO Box 300, Webbers Falls, OK 74470.
