The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors will begin their new basketball season, which started Tuesday night at Arkoma, will do so with a new coach at the helm as Garren Weatherton was hired this past summer.
Weatherton inherits a team that went 16-6 last season and made it to the Class A Regional Tournament.
The Lady Warriors return two key starters from last season, Teralynn Colston (who had a 62-percent free-throw percentage, a 33-percent field goal percentage and a 34-percent 3-point shooting percentage last season) and Bridgette Baer (who had a 34-percent free-throw percentage, a 53-percent field goal percentage and a 31-percent 3-point shooting percentage last season).
The lone senior on this year’s team is Abby Pense. The rest of the roster is comprised of Laina Colston, Cheyanne Herrier, Lextyn Chappell, Hailey Shanks, Kindra Kimble, Audri Spears, Jaylene Goodman, River Harrison, Abbie Patterson, Bentley Ward and Bailey Ward.
“We have an athletic group of girls that are looking forward to a great season,” Weatherton said.
Weatherton said her team’s strength will be her players’ athleticism and quickness, which she hopes will overshadow her team’s overall lack of height.
