God’s Character Revealed through the Birth of Christ Jesus

God’s Character Revealed through the Birth of Christ Jesus
By Pastor Kenneth Byrd Round Mountain Community Church,

You may know someone who tells you they’re going to do somet hing and they may or may not do what they said. So when they tell you they’re gong to do something, you’re not sure if they will or not.

That’s a character flaw that keeps you from putting your confidence in that person. One reason why we can put our confidence in God is because His character is flawless. He always does what He says.

Genesis 3:15, And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thee and the woman and between thy seed and her seed, it shall bruise thy head and thou

shalt bruise his heel.

This is God talking to the enemy of mankind, Satan, after the fall of man. God reveals His plan to get His man back. This wasn’t something He just now came up with. God never plays catch up to the devil. He knew man would fall and He had a plan in place for when he did.

Revelations 13:8 says, Jesus was the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world.

Ephesians 1:4 says, God chose us in Him (Jesus) before the foundation of the world.

It was around 4,000 years before what God said came to pass. So, He had a lot of time to change His mind, but He did exactly what He said He would do; He didn’t change or alter what He said.

For 4,000 years, even though He saw all the foolish and hurtful things that man did to each other and how they rejected Him, He still watched over His word and when the fullness of time came, it happened. God chose Mary, a virgin, to give birth to His Son, Jesus – this would be the seed that was to come and break the power of Satan over His seed.

Jesus wasn’t affected by the fall of man like the rest of us. He wasn’t born of a man. He was the seed of the woman, and of God. Jesus was born like Adam was created before he fell. In right standing with God. He was born without sin and He lived a sinless life.

Jesus was the seed that God was talking about in Genesis 3:15. He came into the world to pay the debt for all mankind.

Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord, The Bible says in Romans 5:12 that all of mankind are guilty before God because of Adam’s sin. The payment that we owed because

of sin was death. That’s eternal separation from God. Hell was to be our eternal home.

But praise God, before the creation of man, Jesus was with the Father God and He said I’ll go and take their place.

The scripture says: He became sin for us, who knew no sin, that we might be made righteousness of God in Him (Eph. 5:21).

Jesus never sinned. He allowed God to put the sin of every person on Him. He took our place on the cross. He died a criminal’s death because that’s what we were. He was taking our place.

He said, “My God, why have you forsaken me?” God turned away from Jesus because of our sin, although Jesus never sinned. He died like a sinner and He went to Hell for us because that’s the debt that we owed.

But after three days, the debt was paid and God raised Jesus from the dead. He conquered

Satan.

When God said in Genesis that the seed of woman would crush Satan’s head and Satan would crush His heel, Satan had no idea how this would come about. Satan crushing His heel was Jesus going to the cross. But Jesus crushed His head when He arose victorious over death, hell and the grave.

Now anyone who believes in their heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and confesses

Jesus as Lord becomes a child of God, is made right with God.

Refusing Jesus is the same as saying I’ll pay my own debt, anyone who says that is unaware of what they’re saying. Jesus already paid your debt. Choose Him.

This all came about because God is faithful to what He has promised.

Let’s put all our confidence in Him, because He is faithful to all His promises.
