Webbers Falls girls get home wins over Braggs, Kinta, but Warriors fall twice

It was a good end to last week for the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors, who won backto- back home games in a 24-hour period as they routed Braggs 4920 on Friday night after knocking off Kinta 4435 on Thursday night.

Unfortunately, the Warriors lost both of their home games on those nights, losing 6830 to Braggs on Friday night after being defeated 49-43 by Kinta on Thursday night.

In the girls’ Friday night win over Braggs, the Lady Warriors (95) jumped out to a 14-8 lead after a quarter, which became a 33-13 halftime advantage and a 43-18 lead going into the fourth quarter.

For the game, Teralynn Colston scored 17 points and Abby Pense added 15 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Bentley Ward with six points, Lextyn Chappell with five points and Cheyenne Herrier, Bridgette Baer and Aubri Spears with two points apiece.

In the girls’ Thursday night victory over Kinta, the Lady Warriors led 10-7 after a quarter but saw the Lady Eagles catch them at 19-all at halftime. Webbers Falls took a 34-33 lead at the end of the third quarter and outscored Kinta 10-2 in the final period to put away the game.

For the contest, Colston scored a gamehigh 19 points and Chappell added 11 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Pense and Baer with five points each and Herrier and Spears with two points apiece.

In the boys’ Friday night loss to Braggs, the Wildcats put away the game early as they took a 20-8 lead after the first quarter en route to a 4212 halftime advantage and a 51-23 lead into the fourth quarter.

In defeat, Braydan Robinson scored wight points to lead the Warriors (4-10), followed by Stryker Chappell with six points, Gunner Shelby with five points, Elliott Kunkel with four points, Denver Morgan with three points and Maddux Shelby and Luke Pierce with two points apiece.

In the boys’ Thursday night loss to Kinta, after falling behind 13-10 at the end of the opening period, the Warriors used a 15-7 second quarter to take a 25-20 halftime lead. However, the Eagles outscored them 15-8 in the third quarter and 14-10 in the final period to get the come-from-behind win.

In defeat, Chappell led all scorers with a game-high 20 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Maddux Shelby with 11 points, Morgan with five points, Pierce with three points and Gunner Shelby and Robinson with two points apiece.
