Aug. 17, 1946 – Feb. 2, 2024

Funeral services for Morgan Keith Fugate, 77, of Blackgum were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024, at Blackgum Harvestime Church in Vian.

Burial was at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Ark., under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mr. Fugate was born on Aug. 17, 1946, in San Jose, Calif., to Berniece (Corbett) Martin and John William Fugate. He passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2024, in Vian.

He was married to Sharon Parker on Jan. 5, 1968, in Farmersville, Calif.

He was an operating engineer. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served from 1965 to 1968 and specialized in communications. He volunteered to enter the service including volunteering for two tours in Vietnam, 1966 and 1967. He was extremely proud of his service and very patriotic.

Mr. Fugate was a member of Blackgum Harvestime Church and enjoyed being a worship leader and guitarist.

Survivors are wife, Sharon Fugate of the home; two sons, Marvin Keith Fugate and Andrea of Salem, Ore., and Jeffrey William Fugate of Blackgum; five grandchildren, Makenzie, Josephine, Morgan, Andrew and Braxton; eight great-grandchildren, Ezekiel, Ezra, Asher, Amelia, Angel, Julian, Melodi and Remi; one sister, Joyce Hoffman of Windsor, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Donald and Linda, Patricia and Cheryl, Richard and Donna, Brent and April; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Wilma Ealum; and one brother, Bernard Fugate.

Active pallbearers were Braxton Fugate, Andrew Fugate, Jeffrey Fugate, Marvin Fugate, John Schmidt and Armond Orr.

Honorary pallbearer was Steven Parker.
