Webbers Falls girls district runners-up, but season ends for Warriors

WF squads end regular season with road wins over Indianola

The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors split their Class A District Tournament games last weekend, eliminating county rival Gans 42-37 at home Friday night before falling 70-36 to Weleetka in Saturday night’s district finals at home.

Since they are district runners-up, the Lady Warriors (14-9) will advance to this week’s Class A Regional Tournament, where they will meet Crowder at 1 p.m. Thursday in Canadian. If they win, they will face the loser of the Tushka-Rattan game at 6 p.m. Friday in Tushka with the winner playing for the consolation championship as well as a berth to next week’s Class A Area Tournament in Madill. However, one more loss suffered by the Lady Warriors will end their season.

The Warriors saw their season end with a 58-53 loss to county rival Gans in Friday night’s single-elimination game of the Class A District Tournament on their home court. The Warriors end the season at 6-16.

Both Webbers Falls teams ended their regular seasons with road wins over Indianola on Feb. 6, with the Lady Warriors winning 44-32 and the Warriors prevailing 57-23.

In the girls’ district finals, the Lady Outlaws broke a 15-all tie after a quarter with a 21-5 second period to take a 36-20 lead at halftime, which became a 58-33 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

In defeat, Teralynn Colston led Webbers Falls with 20 points, followed by Abby Pense with nine points, Bridgette Baer with five points and Lextyn Chappell and Bailey Ward with a free throw apiece.

In the girls’ district win over Gans, the Lady Grizzlies led 20-12 at halftime, but the Lady Warriors outscored them 30-17 in the second half to get the come-from-behind win.

For the game, Teralynn Colston scored 17 points and Pense added 14 points to lead Webbers Falls, followed by Chappell with four points, Baer with three points and Audri Spears and Bailey Ward with two points apiece.

In the boys’ district loss to Gans, the Warriors led 15-8 after a period but were outscored 50-38 over the final three quarters.

In defeatm, Stryker Chappell led Webbers Falls with a game-high 28 points, followed by Luke Pierce with 11 points, Braydan Robinson with six points and Gunner Shelby and Maddux Shelby with four points apiece.

In the girls’ regularseason finale win over Indianola, the Webbers Falls girls rallied from a 21-11 halftime deficit with a 33-11 second half.

For the game, Teralynn Colston had a game-high 19 points and Pense added 10 points to lead the Lady Warriors, followed by Baer and Chapell with six points each, Laina Colston with two points and Bentley Ward with a free throw.

In the boys’ regularseason finale victory over Indianola, Webbers Falls jumped out to a 16-7 lead after a period en route to a 40-9 halftime advantage and a 52-11 lead going into the fourth quarter.

For the game, Chappell scored a game-high 16 points and Braydan Robinson added 11 points to lead the Webbers Falls Warriors, followed by Maddux Shelby with seven points, Preston Rowe with six points, Blake Rowe and Elliot Kunkel with four points each, Brutus Robinson with three points and Pierce, Gunner Shelby and Eli Hefflin with two points apiece.
