Gore Pirates wrestling duo participates in Class 3A Regional Tournament

VINITA — Two Gore Pirates wrestling brothers, 175-pounder Bladin McCartney and heavyweight Caydin McCartney, participated at last weekend’s Class 3A Regional Tournament.

Unfortunately, both brothers lost both of their first two matches to fail to grab one of the top five spots that would have earned them a trip to this weekend’s Class 3A State Tournament, which will be from Thursday through Saturday at Oklahoma City’s Jim Norick State Fair Arena.

Had either or both McCartney brothers finished sixth, they would have been state-tournament alternates, meaning they could have filled in for one of the Class 3A State Tournament wrestlers in their respective weight class should a current state qualifier not be able to wrestle this weekend at state.
