Gore Pirates beat Porum, Webbers Falls, lose to Muldrow
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

The Gore Pirates went 2-1 last week during Spring Break.

The Pirates began Spring Break Week with a 6-4 win over Porum at home March 18, then split two games March 19 in Muldrow — beating neighbor Webbers Falls 11-3 but falling to the host Bulldogs 4-0.

In the win over Porum, the Pirates (5-6) snapped a two-game losing streak with the win.

Gore used a four-run fifth inning to rally from a 4-2 deficit to get the lead for good at 6-4 after five innings.

Dayton Smith (2-2) got the win, going the first 4.1 innings with four strikeouts. James Brasuel got the save, going the final 2.2 innings with two Ks.

For the game, Brasuel doubled with a run batted in, while Keeton Rowe doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Gore.

In the victory over Webbers Falls, Tate Brooksher (3-1) got the complete, four-inning game victory as he struck out nine batters and threw a four-hitter.

With the Warriors leading 3-1 in the second inning, the Pirates took the lead for good with a three-run second inning for a 4-3 lead. Then, a six-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Brooksher singled and scored three runs, Mc-Gee singled, scored a run and had an RBI, Rowe singled, scored twice and had an RBI, Brasuel singled and had an RBI and Keiden Denton singled and scored once for Gore.

In the loss to Muldrow, the Bulldogs scored twice in the first inning and single runs in the second and third innings for a 4-0 lead after three innings.

In defeat, Brooksher doubled for the only hit for the Pirates.

The Pirates were slated to return to action Tuesday afternoon with a home game against Panama, then end the week by participating in the Roland Wood Bat Tournament where they will meet Keys at 11:30 a.m. Thursday and Muldrow at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. How they do on Thursday will determine who and when they will play on Saturday.
