Webbers Falls Warriors enjoy 5-1 week on the diamond
By David Seeley Sports Editor,

The Webbers Falls Warriors baseball team went 5-1 last week.

The Warriors opened the week by sweeping a home doubleheader from Braggs by scores of 11-3 and 11-4 on April 1, but lost their only game of last week 14-7 to Weleetka at home April 2.

The Warriors ended the week with back-toback wins over Riverside Conference foes, a 6-0 road win over Mc-Curtain on Thursday and a 10-2 home win over Keota on Friday.

In the first game against Braggs, Braydan Robinson (3-0) got the complete four-inning victory, throwing a three-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Warriors (12-6) broke a 3-all tie with a five-run third inning and a three-run fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Gunner Shelby was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Maddux Shelby hit a two-run home run and scored three runs for Webbers Falls.

In the nightcap against Braggs, Brutus Robinson (4-0) duplicated the feat his older brother did in Game 1, pitch a complete-game victory as he struck out eight batters in five innings and threw a threehitter.

The Warriors, who trailed 1-0 after an inning, scored five runs in the second inning to take a 5-1 lead . After Braggs scored three runs to cut the deficit to 5-4, Webbers Falls scored six runs in the third inning to take an 11-4 lead after three innings.

For the game, Braydan Robinson was 2-for-3 with a three-run triple and a run scored, Ben Ward was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a run scored and Preston Rowe doubled and scored twice for Webbers Falls.

In the loss to Weleetka, the Outlaws scored once in the first inning, twice in the second inning, once in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning for a 6-0 lead. After the Warriors cut the deficit to 6-1 after five innings, Weleetka scored three runs in the sixth inning to take a 9-1 lead. Webbers Falls scored six runs in the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 9-7, but the Outlaws ended the game with a five-run seventh inning to seal the deal.

In defeat, Brutus Robinson singled, Maddux Shelby singled with two runs batted in and a run scored, Aiden Turley and Gunner Shelby each singled and scored once and Gunner Carey singled with an RBI and two runs scored for Webbers Falls.

Ward (2-2) suffered the loss, getting three strikeouts in two innings. Stryker Chappell went the next 3.2 innings with a strikeout. Luke Pierce got the next two outs, then Trysten Wilbourn got the final two outs.

In the win over Mc-Curtain, Chappell (3-1) threw a three-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

The Warriors scored twice in each of the first two innings for a 4-0 lead, then scored single runs in the fifth and seventh innings to close things out.

For the game, Ward singled with three RBIs, while Chappell singled for the only hits for Webbers Falls.

In the victory over Keota, the Warriors broke a 2-all tie with a two-run third inning for a 4-2 lead, then put the game into run-rule status with a pair of threerun rallies in the fourth and fifth innings.

For the game, Brutus Robinson was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, Braydan Robinson was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, Ward was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored and Turley was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Webbers Falls.

Brutus Robinson followed up his win over Braggs with a 10-strikeout performance to get the win over Keota, throwing a three-hitter over five innings.

The Warriors were slated to welcome Okay to town Monday, then go to Gore on Tuesday. Then, the Warriors will end the week in the 2024 Riverside Conference Tournament in Gore, which will begin Thursday and end Saturday. The Warriors have a 1 p.m. Saturday home game scheduled against Porter Consolidated if they are not still in the RCT. Next week, the Warriors will have a 4 p.m. Monday road game against Canadian, then will welcome Gans to town for a 4 p.m. Tuesday contest at Eual Carter Sports Complex.
