Amelia Sally McNabb
Obituaries
April 24, 2024
Amelia Sally McNabb

February 25, 1921 – April 13, 2024

Sally McNabb passed away early evening on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the age of 103 years old while living at the Baptist Village in Owasso, Oklahoma. She was born February 25, 1921 to Eulas “Bud” Cato and Ethel Risley Cato at Blackgum Mountain, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother (William Cato) and four sisters (Lola Mae Taylor, Viola Franks, Bessie Johnson, and Lillian Peggy Turney), husband Everett Davis, husband Gerald Gene McNabb and daughter-in-law Judy Davis.

Her family moved to Oxnard, California when Sally was a young girl. There, she worked on the Naval and Airforce base at Point Magu/Point Hueneme, California. Eventually she moved to Berkley and finally settled in Alameda, California where she had a career working at the Oakland Alameda Naval Supply Center as a Supervisor to many employees until she retired. She loved her career and enjoyed everyone she worked with at the Naval Supply Center. She retired early specifically to move back to Vian, Oklahoma to take care of her Dad after her Mom passed away. In 1999 she moved to Burkburnett, Texas where she lived until October 2015 when she moved to the Baptist Village Independent living in Owasso, Oklahoma.

Sally enjoyed dancing and would go to dancing events in California and in Oklahoma as often as she was physically able to do so. She loved sewing and quilting and made many fine quilts for her family. She would design her own patterns for wed- ding dresses, gowns, and clothing. She could sit for hours at the sewing machine. She also loved to listen to music and loved doing crossword puzzles. When people asked her how she lived to be over 100 and look so young, she attributed a positive outlook, never worry about something you cannot do anything about, have a sense of humor and be kind to everyone. (And never tell or act your age). There was not a day that Sally didn’t put on her make-up, nice clothes and jewelry, even if she was just staying at home.

Sally is survived by her sons Everett Leon Davis of Burkburnett, Texas, Stewart Gene McNabb and wife Sandra of Springdale, Arkansas and daughter Kathy Brockett and husband Rick of Branson, Missouri. One sister, Alice Miller of Morris, Oklahoma, three grandchildren, (Loni, Kathy Lynn, and Melissa), six great grandchildren (Allen, Chris, Garrett, Brennan, Jonluke and Mareesha) and one greatgreat grandson (Liam), as well as many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on April 19, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Box Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma with arrangements under the direction of Locust Grove Funeral Home in Locust Grove, Oklahoma and Reverend Dale Ritter officiated. Family asks in lieu of flowers to please donate to the Humane Societies or Rescue organizations in your area, as well as the Wounded Warriors, and St Jude’s Children Hospital. Services were entrusted to the Locust Grove Funeral Home. You may leave thoughts, memories, and condolences at www.LocustGroveFuneral-Home.com.
