Vian’s Board of Trustees met on March 18 where they voted to approve two new hires and listened to an update on the March Lake Vian Hilltop Run.
During communications, Isaac Barnoskie and police chief Mark Harkins gave an update on the most recent Lake Vian Hilltop Run at Armstrong Park and discussed future events. A total of 194 people participated in the event on March 2, and 87 have already signed up for next year’s event, which will be held on March 1. The trustees then unanimously voted to approve the Lake Vian Trail Run on August 17 at Armstrong Park.
No action was taken on approving FEMA-4222-DROK, Vian, Town of, FIPS/ PA ID: 135-77250-00 Project Worksheet (PW) 805, request for repayment of funds, which was tabled from the December 2023 and January 2024 meetings.
The trustees then voted to table the audit report by Robert St. Pierre, CPA, PC for the Town of Vian Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2023.
The board then voted to approve the hiring of Caleb Taylor for fulltime employment to the Vian Police Department and Robert D. Johnson for part-time employment.
Also approved was the 2024 spring cleanup days for April 23 and 24, which coincide with residential customers’ regular trash pickup days.
The police report for the previous month was approved by the trustees, but they voted to table the fire report for the previous month, according to meeting minutes.
During the public works authority meeting, all former reports were approved and the board voted to surplus a Cub Cadet lawnmower.
