The Sequoyah County Historical Society will meet on Sunday, May 19, at their museum, located at a 200 E. Creek in Sallisaw.
Harold Trisler will discuss the mysteries surrounding the life and death of U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Dalton published in his book, “Finding The Lost Dalton.”
Trisler is a resident of Fort Smith and a member of the Sequoyah County Historical Society. He waited until he was 70 to write his first book, “Finding The Lost Dalton.” His book is about the life and murder of U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Dalton. Marshal Dalton was a lawman of the Fort Smith federal court that worked for Judge Isaac Parker.
After Dalton’s murder in Indian Territory, his brothers became legendary outlaws. Trisler’s book solves several mysteries surrounding the death of Marshal Dalton and he has received much praise from leading historians for his work.
A reception will follow the meeting and Trisler will be able to meet members and guests, and answer questions about his book and Marshal Dalton. Jackie Snow Pop and Janice Sanders will host the reception. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
