Members of the Vian FFA Chapter won first place in the state FFA homesite judging career development event during the 2024 Oklahoma FFA Interscholastics at Oklahoma State University on April 27.
Team members include Gracie Risley, Ally Trotter, Chasity Smith and Kloey Kisselburg. In individual rankings, Risley, Trotter and Smith earned second-, fourth- and sixth- place honors.
Members also won firstplace honors in the state FFA land judging career development event. The land judging CDE consists of four sites for which the soil characteristics are judged and correct treatments prescribed.
Team members are Madison Ross, Natalie Guthrie, Harley Casey and Kala Gibbins. In individual placings, the four students earned first-, second-, third- and fifth-place honors, respectively.
Members of the Vian FFA Chapter also won first-place honors in the state FFA soil and water management career development event during the 2024 Oklahoma FFA Interscholastics at OSU on May 4.
In the soil and water management CDE, members present their knowledge of the principles of soil and water management including soil and water relationships, mathematic principles and land surveying.
Team members complete a written test and problemsolving activities like proper procedures, definitions and terms, along with legal land descriptions and use of GPS.
Team members included Gabriel Wilson, Jathan Brockman, Max Ross and Halli Russell. In individual rankings, Wilson, Brockman and Ross earned first-, second- and fifth-place honors, respectively.
Vian’s Agricultural education instructors and FFA advisors are Trent and Charlotte Trotter.
All the teama will represent Oklahoma at the National FFA Convention in October.
