Cherokee Nation chooses one boy and one girl from all of their schools (which is over 150 schools) for the Trail of Tears Award. The award is granted for superior achievement and excellence of performance in academics, Cherokee Cultural activities, school clubs and organizations, team sports and agriculture science. The 2024 Trail of Tears award winners from Gore Public Schools are Bryson Thouvenel and Avery Wisdom.
