A Thursday evening collision on Hwy. 82 and Cookson Bend Road about 13 miles south of Tahlequah resulted in a Cookson man being transported to a local hospital.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Cody Cox #718 of the Cherokee County Detachment of Troop C reported John Carroll, 80, was driving southbound on Hwy. 82 in a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe when he departed the roadway and struck a tree.

Cox reported the collision occurred after the driver suffered some type of medical incident, according to the accident report.

Cox was transported to NHS in Tahlequah where he was admitted in stable condition for arm and legs injuries.
