E.O. “Jr.” Smith

State Representative District 2

Political Party: Republican Hometown: Vian Current Town: Vian Education: High School Age: 73

Candidate Background:

A dedicated community leader, I currently serve on the Vian Board of Trustees and have served nearly seven years as a Cherokee Nation Tribal Councilor. I am a big supporter of education, schools and little league sports.

1. Have you ever failed to pay any taxes or court ordered judgements?

No

2. Have you ever been convicted of a felony? No

What are the top three messages of your campaign?

1. Extreme Liberals don’t understand our way of life, our support for rural schools, and our love of community and country.

2. I’ve been involved in our community from youth sports, to helping with a new Veterans Center, have served on numerous boards, and will definitely be the one who will take your calls seven days a week. Why I post my number publicly is because you deserve a representative who will fight for ALL of Sequoyah County’s values.

3. I definitely support and will vote for President Trump for a third time, will uphold the Second Amendment, and defend our constitution. I will always try and make things better for District 2.

What are the top three most pressing issues facing rural Oklahoma? How would you address these issues if elected?

1. Public Safety – Opposing illegal drug growers and fighting drug trafficking, which has impacted every family in our community. We can accomplish this by giving law enforcement respect and tools they need to keep us safe.

2. Job creation/Fighting inflation Combat inflation through tax cuts, best social programs and good paying jobs.

3. Supporting America’s first values – Respecting everyone in Sequoyah County by being available and involved in events.

Explain your positions on economic development as it pertains to rural Oklahoma in general and Eastern Oklahoma in particular.

Eastern Oklahoma and Sequoyah County’s unique situation on the I-40 corridor and grant relations with tribal community – we should take advantage of this. We should harness the tourism revenue and our recreational lakes. We live in the best part of the country and should be attractive to industry to provide prosperity for friends, family and neighbors.
