In a special meeting held on May 30, the Gore Board of Trustees convened to address key community concerns and approve crucial fiscal and administrative measures for the upcoming year.
A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to the public hearing regarding the proposed budget for the Fiscal Year 2024-25. A representative from Wells, Wann, CPA, presented the budget to the board and fielded inquiries from Solomon Miller regarding the absence of funds allocated for the Haven Heights road project.
The representative clarified that adjustments had been made in the previous fiscal year to accommodate this project, thereby justifying its omission from the current budget proposal.
Following the discussion, Trustee Joni Couch motioned to approve Resolution No. 0530-2024-1, endorsing the FY 2024-25 budget, which was unanimously approved by the trustees.
The meeting proceeded with public commentary on the need for a comprehensive vehicle policy, particularly from Fire Chief Justin Ohl, who expressed satisfaction with the collaborative effort to finalize the policy in consultation with town officials, town attorney and insurers.
Upon deliberation, Mayor Robin Henry proposed a motion to approve the Company Vehicle Policy, which was seconded by Pack, and received unanimous approval from the trustees.
Ron Stokes, addressing the board, emphasized the critical nature of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) response times, underscoring the urgency for swift action in emergency situations.
Paramedic Ken Lacey also weighed in, stressing the critical importance of efficient response times in emergency medical situations.
