Will Our Nation Stand the Test?

Will Our Nation Stand the Test?
By Shirley R. Watts,

“Inasmuch as these people draw near with

— their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, (Isa 29:13). “Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord, And their works are in the dark;” (Isa 29:15).

A Nation -Far from God This summarizes the state of our Nation and state of the Church today. We have definitely moved far from God. We see it in the news, hear it in voices, politics, hear it and see it in local churches, homes, children, laws changing, constitution is under attack, and our youth and adults express it through drugs, and sex.

Our Nation is divided! Jesus said: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand” (Matt 12:25). We are far from God. We must decide where we will stand, the side of evil (Satan) or stand with God?

We can no longer compromise truth for lies! It is decision time! It is time to repent of coveting. This is the root of all sins such as idolatry, sexual immorality, pride, selfishness, arrogance, lying, stealing, murder etc. Our Nation is full of idols! Idolatry brought Israel down into captivity; they no longer worship anyone but Jehovah God! Do we need to go into captivity?

We’re in a mess! We have a National Emergency today. It is rejecting the Word of God. This gives us a compromising heart. We are trusting in self, politicians, economics, technology, knowledge, money, and our accomplishments. We are not trusting in God. He has so blessed us and we are turning our backs to Him. This will call for Judgment!

The Church Has Drifted Church, we have drifted from God and become the Laodicean Church, the lukewarm Church (Rev. 3).

“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me, And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,” (Isa 29:13; Matt. 15:8).

The Church is rejecting God’s Word! This is sin! God judges sin! The Church must be a shining light to the world, but we compromise with the world. What about missions? People die daily! We must repent, return to God’s Word and truly worship Him.

He gave His Son as a blood sacrifice for sin, for our forgiveness, our salvation… from Hell which burns forever! Why did He punish Israel, He loved them, and He was thinking of us, to save us from Hell. God cares for us, but we must care for Him and be obedient to Him. He is faithful! We are unfaithful! Will we stand with God or the World?

Sin and Repentance

Sin is that which does not glorify God. It is disobedience to God. It is breaking God’s laws. Many Christians live in sin. If the Church does not admit her sins and repent, the Nation will not! I believe the Church has the Light to lead our Nation, back to God. We know the True and Living Creator and can pray to Him anytime. We have the key to life and should be sharing it with the world not becoming part of the world.

‘Thus says the Lord God: “Repent, turn away from your idols, and turn your faces away from all your abominations” (Ezek. 14:6.)

Repent of what? Repent of our neglect of His Word, our complacency, self-centered attitude, neglect of missions, lack of love for one another, lack of prayer, false worship and accepting lies instead of truth, “people draw near with their mouths And honor Me with their lips, But have removed their hearts far from Me,” “Woe to the rebellious children,” says the Lord, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; (Isa 30:1).

Calling all Christians to pray and seek God for our spiritual condition as a Nation and as God’s people. (II Chron. 7:14) “For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You” (Ps 86:5).

Praise God!
