Harold ‘Chief’ Rodgers

Feb. 1, 1941 – Aug. 31, 2024

Graveside services for BMCM Harold “Chief” Rodgers, 83, of Sallisaw, were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024, at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Mr. Rodgers was born on Feb. 1, 1941, in Irving, Texas to Eula Mae (White) Rodgers and Floyd Henry Rodgers. He died on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2024, in Sallisaw.

He was married to Valerie Fishburn on April 16, 1965, in New Orleans, La.

He was a retired Boatswain’s Mate Master Chief Petty Officer in the United States Coast Guard and of the Christian faith. Upon retiring from the Coast Guard after 26 years, he worked as a semi-truck and race car driver, master mechanic, and professional landscaper of his own property.

Survivors are wife, Valerie Rodgers of the home; three daughters, Sheryl Rudick and James of Vici, Debbie Fargo and Jamie, and Kristi Smith and David, all of Sallisaw; one son, Mark Rodgers of Sallisaw; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Cathy Regan and Rick of Springfield, Ill., Sarah Burghard and Jimmy of Wichita, Kan., and Linda Crowl of Wichita; and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Kollman; and one brother, Sonny Rodgers.

Pallbearers were Nicholas Rudick, Patrick Rudick, Ethan Fargo, Garrett Fargo, Brody Smith and Kendall Marley.

Honorary pallbearers were James Rudick, Jamie Fargo, David Smith, Bob Steiner and Archie Risenhoover.
