By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Vian Lady Wolverines went 2-1 last week coming off their Labor Day Weekend holiday.

The Lady Wolverines swept a road District 3A-8 doubleheader from the host Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs on Sept. 3 by scores of 10-0 and 11-0 as Vian pitcher threw a no-hitter in the opener and a one-hitter in the nightcap.

In the first win over Okmulgee, Gibbins (88) threw a four-inning no-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

In the opener, after the Lady Wolverines (8-8 overall, 5-3 in district play) scored once in the opening inning, Vian put a seven-spot up in the second inning for an 8-0 lead. Single runs in the third and fourth innings put the game into run-rule status.

In the nightcap, Gibbins threw a three-inning one-hitter with seven Ks.

The Lady Wolverines, who were the home team in the contest, scored three runs in the opening inning and eight runs in the third inning for an 11-0 lead to put the contest into run-rule status.

For the game, Terrill was 3-for-3 with two doubles, four RBIs and a run scored, Gibbins doubled and scored twice and Halli Russell hit a solo inside-thepark homer for Vian.

In the loss to Sequoyah- Tahlequah, the Lady Wolverines were four-hit and committed six errors.
