Webbers Falls Lady Warriors beat McCurtain after losing to Gore, Warner
By David Seeley Sports Editor

The Webbers Falls Lady Warriors ended last week on a high note with an 8-3 home Riverside Conference win over the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs on Thursday afternoon at Eual Carter Sports Complex in Webbers Falls.

However, the rest of last week was not so good as the Lady Warriors lost 11-3 to the host Gore Lady Pirates on Sept. 16 and fell 12-0 to Warner Lady Eagles at home Sept. 17 at Eual Carter Sports Complex.

In the win over Mc-Curtain, the Lady Warriors (5-15) rallied from a 3-2 third-inning deficit with a three-run third inning and single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.

For the game, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Karla Bonilla was 2-for-4 with a triple, two runs batted in and a run scored for Webbers Falls.

Rhilee Jones (5-14) got the win, getting nine strikeouts in seven innings.

In the road loss to Gore, the Lady Pirates jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a pair of four-run rallies in the first and second innings, as Gore led 8-0 after two innings.

The Lady Warriors cut the deficit to 10-3 in the fifth inning, but the game got to runrule status in the bottom of the frame when the Lady Pirates scored once to get an eight-run victory.

In defeat, Bonilla was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, while Bailey Ward doubled with an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Jones took the loss, going the first four innings with three Ks. Shkyra Scruggs got the final two outs of the game.

In the loss to Warner, Warner pitcher Ella Labounty threw a fourinning two-hitter and struck out 10 batters.

The Lady Eagles scored twice in the first inning and seven runs in the second inning for a 9-0 lead. A three-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

Bonilla and Gracie Sturgell each singled for the only hits off Labounty for the Lady Warriors. Rhilee Jones took the loss, despite two strikeouts in four innings.

The Lady Warriors will play in their CLass A District Tournament today in Allen to begin postseason play. They will meet Crowder at 10:30 this morning, with the loser meeting host Allen at noon and the Webbers Falls-Crowder winner meeting Allen at 1:30 p.m. T%he loser’sbracket final will begin at 3 p.m., with the district title game at 4:30 p.m. and the if-game at 6 p.m.
