Webbers Falls Lady Warriors beat Cameron-Arkoma before season ends at district tournament
By David Seeley Sports Editor

Last week got off to a good start for the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors as they routed the co-op Cameron-Arkoma team 13-0 at home Sept. 23 at Eual Carter Sports Complex in Webbers Falls.

However, the week, and the 2024 fast-pitch season, ended on a down note as they were eliminated at Thursday’s Class A District Tournament in Allen after a 15-2 loss to Crowder and a 10-0 loss to district- host Allen. The Lady Warriors end the season at 6-17.

In the win over Cameron- Arkoma, Webbers Falls pitcher Rhilee Jones (6-16) threw a three-inning one-hitter with two strikeouts.

The Lady Warriors scored five runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning for an 11-0 lead. A tworun third inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Bentley Ward was 3-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in, Bridgette Baer was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI, Bailey Ward was 2-for-2 with a threerun, inside-the-park home run, five RBIs and two runs scored, Gracie Sturgell was 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Jones was 2-for-2 with a run scored and Shkyra Scruggs doubled and scored once for Webbers Falls.

In the district-tournament loss to Crowder, the Demonettes jumped out to a 7-0 lead after an inning. After the Lady Warriors cut the deficit to 7-1 after two innings, the Demonettes put away the game with a seven-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

The Lady Warriors got singles from Bailey Ward, Gracie Sturgell, Ricki Frazier and Kendra Kimble.

Jones took the loss, despite fanning four batters in four innings.

In the season-ending loss to district-host Allen, Allen pitcher Khloe Goodson threw a onehitter, with that hit being a single by Ward.

Jones took the loss.
