Faithfulness to God Brings Happiness
By Shirley R. Watts

Are you a happy Christian?

Are you a faithful Christian?

As this year is coming to a close, have you thought about your vow to be faithful to God when He saved you? The Christian, who loves God and His Word, meditates on it, studies to learn obedience, and enjoys it above all things will be faithful to God.

Faithful Feet

“Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path” feet (Ps. 119:105).

The faithful Christian will experience “happy feet” that walks by faith. To walk by faith is proof of your faith.

Life is a journey! Each Christian has a personal path. The Word of God is the “light” as you travel through this life. If you walk in the light, you may not stumble into the ways and traps of the world. Watch your step!

When the Christian loves God’s Word, studies it, meditates upon it as God speaks through His Word and enjoying what He has to say, you will be happy and have faithful feet as you walk your personal path in obedience.

Allow His Word to be a lamp to our feet and let it light our path. We walk one step and one day at a time by faith. As we walk in obedience, God will show us the next step. When we walk in obedience to His Word we will stay on our path. The “light” of Jesus Christ in our life will also light the path for others.

“I have sworn and confirmed That I will keep Your righteous judgments… Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word. (Ps. 119:106108) Faithful Words

As the Christian studies to learn obedience you will speak “happy and faithful” words.

The psalmist said: “I have sworn and confirmed That I will keep Your righteous judgments” (v.106). When you make a vow to God, you must keep it. A word from your mouth is a “freewill offering.” Our offering is not always perfect and can become contaminated with sin. We need to be careful with our words before the Lord.

Your words must be happy words of faith. You must speak joyful words. The psalmist prayed, “Revive me, O Lord, according to Your word” (v.107). When you say religious words and pray just to be praying without willing to obey God, it is being a hypocrite, your fellowship with God is interrupted. Hypocrisy is sin! Words are important! Let us ask God to revive us also and accept our words as a “freewill offering.” Then pray “O Lord, teach me your judgments.”

Will you keep His righteous judgments? Are your words happy and faithful?

Faithful Memories

“My life is continually in my hand… I do not forget Your law… I have not strayed from Your precepts” (Ps. 119:109110) The people in the Old Testament had to listen to the public reading of the Word and remember what they heard.

The Holy Spirit in the Christian brings God’s Word to remembrance. So when you are faithful in studying, mediating, learning and enjoying it, and living the faithful life you will have faithful memories. You cannot remember what you have never heard and learned. “The memory of the righteous is blessed” (Prov. 10:7).

You must rely upon His Word to light your path and you will be able to recall happy memories. “They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness” (Ps. 145:7).

Happy Heart

“…Your testimonies… are the rejoicing of my heart. I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, to the very end.” (Ps.119:109-110) When the heart is faithful, it will be happy! It is happy when you love His Word. The Word of God is like a mine filled with gold nuggets and you must take the time to dig for them.

You must do more than surface reading to know His will. Surface reading will not put spiritual treasures in your heart. Mining treasure is joyful work. The Holy Spirit helps you mine the treasure so you can invest God’s Word in your life and others.

Remember your commitment!

Love God and His Word!

Be faithful, study, and prayerful and you will be nappy!

There is happiness only through faithfulness! Amen!!!!
