CASC Lady Vikings compete in MoValley Open

MARSHALL, Mo. — The Carl Albert State College Lady Vikings wrestling team competed at the 2024 Missouri Valley Open, which took place Friday and Saturday.

One Lady Viking, Calli Connolly, placed as she was fifth at 103 pounds.

Former Vian Lady Wolverine Taya Hunt went 2-2, including a first-round bye, at 145 pounds. After her opening- round bye, she beat Hastings College’s Isabella Deeds by pinfall in 1:43, but then lost her next two matches — to the University of the Cumberlands wrestler Alivia Ming by pinfall and a 10-2 decision to Iowa Central Community College’s Kammie Schanz.

Abigail Butts (110 pounds), Laila Mirza (117), Sam Markwardt (131), Olivia Sandoval (131), Alondra Valles (138), Margret Jordan (160) and Stacey Nash (207) also competed but did not place.

The Lady Vikings will return to action on Saturday at the Doane University Open in Crete, Neb.
