Sen. Tom Woods to serve as vice chair of key Senate committees

Senator Tom Woods, R-Westville, was recently appointed by Pro Tem-Elect Lonnie Paxton to serve as Vice Chair on two key Senate committees.

Beginning in the 2025 Legislative Session, Woods will serve as Vice Chair of the Senate’s Veterans and Military Affairs Committee and the Energy Committee.

“As a proud member of our nation’s armed forces, I am eager to draw on my firsthand experience to bring a distinct and valuable perspective to the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee,” Woods said.

“The Energy Committee will also be responsible for reviewing key initiatives this session, focusing on policies that promote growth in the sector and boost energy production, while safeguarding our state’s energy producers from agendas that aim to overregulate and undermine these essential industries.”

Woods will also Chair the Appropriations Subcommittee on General Government and Transportation.

“I am truly honored to serve the citizens of Senate District 4 and I’m deeply grateful to Pro Tem-Elect Paxton for entrusting me and providing the opportunity to serve in these pivotal roles,” Woods said. “I also look forward to working with my colleagues as we tackle key issues in these committees this session.”
